Sexological Counselling
Sexological counselling is low threshold professional and goal oriented conversational help in the matters of sexuality, sexual health and gender identity. The aim of sexological counselling is to provide support in general wellbeing for people of all ages. You will have an opportunity to ponder areas of sexuality in safety; counselling provides information and conversational guidance. We will look for solutions for a specific problem or assess issues in sexuality from your specific point of view.
I will complete Basic Studies in Sexological Counselling (Sexology Level 1) in Tampere University of Applied Sciences in the spring of 2025, which means that sexological counselling is provided with student pricing. I work in accordance with sexological science and counselling ethics. If your situation seems to require further knowledge, I will guide you forward. As in all my therapy work, I apply solution-focused methods accentuating your uniqueness and strengths. I will also utilise my background in education and my neuropsychiatric knowledge.

Sexological counselling may, for example, address the following issues:
- challenges with self-esteem and body image
- relationships
- safe sex
- stages of life in the matters of sexuality
- pondering sexual preferences or gender identity
- sexual desire disorder / disparity, problems in intimacy
- the effects of physical sickness or life changes
- various dysfunctions in sex life
- sexuality issues in parenthood and in family life
- the impact of religion and culture in sexuality and gender expression
- hopes to discuss sex and sexuality in a place of safety
The duration for sexological counselling usually varies from one to six sessions. You are welcome to arrive alone, as a couple or as a polyamorous cluster. If you arrive together, you may wish to book two consecutive time slots in order to allow more time for each point of view. The conversations may also take place online, should it be more fitting for you and provided you have suitable equipment and a quiet place for it.
No entries or recordings will be made in MyKanta. My practice is a safe space for everyone; sexual and gender diversity is a part of humanity. You can come as you are and, through dialogue, explore the issues that matter to you - in safety and in confidence, using proper terms.
